Highlands and Islands Visit

Hello Everyone,

Autumn is well and truly here now isn't it? The baltic mornings that have you leaving the house wrapped up for an arctic expedition only to find yourself losing half your body weight in sweat by lunch time when the sun has made a late arrival but at least this means we have some final opportunities to enjoy some nice weather before the apocalypse winter arrives.

At the beginning of the month we took a little mini trip to the Scottish Highlands and Islands for my birthday and wow, just wow.

I've always loved Scotland (I live here after-all) but there's something magical about right up north so I thought I'd share some of the photos I took with you all... and a video, why not!

Enjoy:

Easdale Island

Oban

Mull

Most of these images didn't require any editing, the colours were actually that vivid, and yes - that includes the rainbows!

Finally there's a short video with some extra bits too:

Have you ever been to the Highlands?

Flapper Vibes With The Lulu Bob Wig From HotHair

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all doing amazingly well, there was no post last week as I was on an impromptu trip to the Scottish Highlands and Islands, if you missed the little vlog showing you the gorgeous scenery, it's here: Highlands and Islands.

After my little break away from civilisation, I have come back to a very autumnal southern Scotland and I've started all things Hallowe'en around here, if you missed it I have a video recommending some fantastically spooky Hallowe'en reads to you here but today we are going to be talking about dressing up for the occasion.

Hallowe'en is one of my favourite times of year, I'm an October baby so it comes with the territory! I also love playing dress up and on the big night, I normally dress up with my daughter and watch Hocus Pocus then I watch real scary movies with Mr Sparkles (Paranormal Activity - I'm looking at you here!) and we also often have a spooky get together of some description to attend where fancy dress is always a feature so with that in mind, this year I've decided to go for 'Vintage Flapper' with the help of The Lulu Bob from HotHair in Deep Cherry Red which I was very kindly sent to review from the lovely and helpful team at HotHair.

Halloween Flapper Look

This wig is so much fun and differs greatly from my usual look which was a bit of a shock to a friend of mine when I sent her a snap telling her it was my real hair, oh the fun we have with whatsapp.

As is standard with HotHair products, the wig is of good quality and has a strap inside to adjust the size of your wig so you get the best fit, we don't want your wig flying off on the dancefloor when you're doing the mash, the monster mash.

Halloween Flapper Look

The cut and shape of the wig is gorgeous and gives a more natural feel to your look, the style could be very modern or vintage depending on how you style it, as I said, I'm adding pearls and vintage style makeup to get a 1920's inspired flapper look this Hallowe'en.

Halloween Flapper Look

I've had a few products from HotHair now and I am always really impressed by the quality and the sheer range of products they offer from the celebrity hair section to clip in buns, they have all areas covered.
I really love my Hallowe'en look this year and I can't wait to play around more with this wig and the looks that can be created whilst wearing it, also, the Lulu Bob currently has 20% off online... #JustSaying.

Halloween Flapper Look

What are you wearing for Hallowe'en this year? Have you ever shopped at HotHair?

Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo Wonderball Wand

Hi Everyone!

Hope you're all having a lovely start to Autumn, I know I've been loving the change of weather into boots and scarves time.

In the Autumn I tend to do my hair a lot more than other seasons, in Summer I'm too hot to care how disheveled I look, in Winter I'm always in a hat and in Spring I don't tend to know what's going on so Autumn is my time.

One look I really love playing with is curls, they always make me feel so pretty and pulled together and, as a Mum with a little baby, being pulled together can be a struggle (at least for me, if you're the pulled together, hair and makeup flawless Mum of a new baby then you have my intense admiration!)  and so when I was very kindly sent the Lee Stafford CoCo LoCo Wonderball Wand to try out, I couldn't wait to get a few moments to myself to play with my recently neglected locks.

If you've been following my blog for some time, you'll know how much I love Lee Stafford electricals, in particular the CoCo LoCo range, you may remember my post featuring the CoCo LoCo Blow & Go Nuts where we talked about keeping your hair healthy and my review of the CoCo LoCo Long Tong when I first discovered the range and fell in love.

Why CoCo LoCo?

Believe it or not (but you probably should believe it because it's true), the CoCo LoCo hair tools are all infused with coconut oil to help nourish and repair damaged hair, at first I thought this might just be a gimmick but it actually works, my hair is really shiny after styling with the CoCo LoCo range.

So why is this wand any different to any other wands?

Well for starters we have the coconut oil infusion I mentioned earlier but also, with the Wonderball Wand, we have a very unique shape, the idea behind it is pretty nifty.

The shape of the wand allows you to achieve a couple of different overall looks whilst styling, you can wrap your sectioned hair around the thinner areas to get bohemian curls or you can wrap your hair around the spheres to create beachy waves but there's also the option to mix it up and wrap around both to create wilder curls.
If you know me you'll know the wilder curls was the style I was interested in because I really don't like my hair looking too neat, I don't like to look like I've tried hard... even when I've tried hard.

The On Switch Is So Cute In Hot Pink
So I spent my time curling all over the wand then running my fingers through parts to mess it up and I love the result!

The curls looked more natural to me than they do after using a traditional wand and I loved how they all looked different, this will be my styling wand of choice now, even replacing my Long Tong and my Rainbow Shine Wand which I've loved so much.

I can't wait to use this wand more because it was so easy to use and I've had lots of lovely compliments on my curly look and it was nice to feel human again after the last couple of months of early motherhood - Thank You Lee Stafford!

Let me know if you have this wand, I'd love to know your thoughts!

It's Never Too Early To Prepare | Prestige Hampers

Hello Everyone,

I think this post needs to come with a warning that I’ll be mentioning the ‘C’ word a few times, that’s Christmas for the uninitiated, so with that warning out of the way, let’s delve into this exciting post I have for you today.

Christmas as a grown up is waaaaayyyyy different to Christmas as a child, as a kid I would get excited late November time, be manic through all of December and then crash on Boxing Day, filled with sweets and laden with gifts and that was pretty much Christmas to me, but, as a fully fledged adult with two little ones and a husband, Christmas is different now.
These days I start my festive planning in summer, I begin shopping around, squirrelling away gifts and planning my December menu around July and I’m not even sorry. This means that come the beginning of December, when everyone else I know is rushing around stressing about Christmas, I’m sat with a mulled wine enjoying the festivities - it works to be prepared early my friends!

A huge part of Christmas for me now is the food, gone are the days of daydreaming about the latest Barbies and My Little Ponies, these days I get my kicks in the festive food halls, Christmas cook books and prepping food hampers for loved ones (and also hoping to be gifted something edible), so when Prestige Hampers offered me the chance to review one of their luxury Christmas hampers, guess what I said...

Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Glory To This Amazing Thing!

I didn’t know which hamper I was being sent and so the excitement was real when my lovely postie arrived with a huge box and upon opening, I knew that it was going to be a good day.

It was almost as if this box had been made for me by someone who knows me well, everything in here excites me so very much and it isn’t just the food, it is the beautiful presentation of such a special item, this is the stuff of my adulthood dreams.

Under the initial layer there were yet more goodies and as I didn’t know what would be in there, it really was like Christmas came early in this house.

Prestige Hampers have something for all tastes and budgets, from the sweet packs for the sugar lovers in the family to cheese hampers, food, wine.... you've got it all there waiting to be bought for a loved one or yourself - there's no judging here!

Everything arrived perfectly packed as you can see from the pictures and all items had a decent use by date too, so you don't have to scoff the lot immediately but if you want to do just that then once again, no judging!

I am seriously impressed by this lovely selection and I'm pretty certain that it won't be too long till I place another order with Prestige Hampers.

What do you all think? Are you into Hampers for Christmas gifts?

Speak to you all soon,

Rosy xx

AD** Top 3 Children's Catalogues

Hello Everyone,

Today's post is a sponsored guest post so not written by me, hope you enjoy it and I'll be back with more content later in the week.

Rosy xx

Shopping for children is oftentimes a challenge for parents. Some catalogues don’t have a dedicated kids section, so it can be tough to find the right size/fit. On other sites, they have clothing, but they only offer a limited selection. Many of these stores also offer finance plans in the form of pay monthly or pay weekly payment plansIf you want to find selection, quality, and the right sizes for your kids, regardless of their age, consider a few of these catalogues when purchasing online.

Mini Boden
This is the site dedicated on Boden’s online catalogue for kids. You’ll find many of the great designer looks for adults, which are made for kids. You’ll also find top children’s brand-name clothing and accessories on the site, which will fit your child perfectly. You can find clothing for newborns through teens on the site.

Vertbaudet
This is another site which caters to younger customers. A simple user-experience, an easy to navigate site, and easy to find clothing for young boys and girls, allows parents to quickly and easily find the best products for their kids, for a reasonable price. Great financing options are always available when shopping as well.

Trotters
A third children-dedicated catalogue is trotters.co.uk. Here you’ll find specialised items for children of all ages, regardless of their taste/preference in clothing. If your child loves a distinct style, needs a longer fit, or likes to wear form-fitting clothing, there are several options available. Parents can find the perfect look and right sizes, for their young kids on the site.

These are a few of the most reputable UK catalogues, which cater to younger consumers, and offer a wide range of products and selection for your children, which perfectly complements their style, and fits their body as clothing should fit on a smaller frame.

You Must Read This Book | An Unwanted Guest

Hello Everyone,

Today I’m bringing you a good old book review, it’s been a while since I reviewed a book on my blog as opposed to just on my YouTube Channel but this is a book I devoured in record time and have to share with as many people as possible.

There will be NO SPOILERS in this review.

An Unwanted Guest tells the story of a group of people who all travel to a quaint hotel in the middle of nowhere for a weekend of solitude. As there is no WiFi or mobile phone signal, all of the various guests are encouraged to mingle in the bar area and they gradually start to get to know one another which adds to the quirky nature of the hotel.
Unfortunately for the guests, this weekend sees a serious bout of snow fall which cuts the hotel off from civilisation as the phones go down and the electric goes off in the storm, attempts at leaving on foot are a no go due to the ice and treacherous conditions outside and as previously mentioned, there’s no mobile signals to call for help so everyone is effectively trapped until the power comes back on, and then the bodies start to appear.

An Unwanted Guest is a nod to murder mystery books of old, it certainly has a nostalgic and cozy feel to its unraveling tale despite the grizzly subject matter and in my opinion, the whole story reads like a particularly enthralling game of Cluedo.

As the nights are starting to draw in and Autumn is on its way, this would be a perfect time to pick up such a story and enjoy the darker evenings tucked up with a fantastic murder mystery book. I gave this book 5/5 stars on goodreads and can’t recommend it enough.

Let me know if you plan on picking up An Unwanted Guest, I’d love to know your thoughts on it!

Incidentally, if you enjoy book reviews/hauls then check out my YouTube Channel - Sparkles Books As that’s pretty much all I cover on there.

Bye for now,

Affordable Family Night Ideas *

Hello Everyone,

Today’s post is a sponsored guest post, read, enjoy and I’ll see you all in the next one.

Rosy x

If you have kids, and want to spend time together, it can be challenging finding things the entire family will enjoy. However, there are fun activities, which aren’t costly, and everyone can enjoy together, which you can do from the comfort of your home. Consider a few of these tips.

Drive thru movie
If you have a large yard, or a basement, you can set up a projector, buy a movie, and enjoy a drive-thru screening with the family. This is a fun way to keep things fresh, to “get out of the house”, without leaving home, and it is also a very affordable way for you to have fun with the entire family, if you don’t want to spend much money on entertainment. If you would like some movie ideas then Which Movie Next is a great place to visit.

Have a picnic in your yard
Okay, you might not go to a public park or beach at night, but what’s stopping you from having a picnic in your yard? Make sandwiches, smores, fun treats, and spend some time outdoors, especially with the great summer weather. Set up a tent or make a fort with a few blankets together. The kids will love the idea, and you can spend quality time together with the entire family.

Game night is another idea. Whether this is video games or board games, you can set up themed-nights. Allow a family member to choose a theme each game night to keep things fresh and ensure everyone enjoys the festivities. And, make it a competition (boys vs girls or parents vs kids). It’s engaging, fun, and a great way to utilise items you have at home, to enjoy quality time with the family.

You don’t have to spend money to enjoy time with the family. These are a few fun ways to make the most of items you have at home and enjoy time with the kids and your spouse once a week.

My Go-To Five Minute Makeup

Follow on Bloglovin

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’re all coping in this heatwave we are having, personally I’ve been melting but to take my mind off the muggy misery we are going back to basics to discuss how to look put together in minutes.

As many of you will know, I very recently had a baby and if there’s one thing babies are good at, it is eating up every last second of your day. Where I would once spend a good  hour or so getting ready at leisure (listening to audio books, selecting the perfect shade of shadow), I now find myself placing my baby in his swing and backing out of the room in slow motion maintaining eye contact and smiling like a serial killer trying to convince my baby that this is all perfectly casual, I will return in one millisecond but he sees through me and starts to grumble and so my ‘get ready’ time turns into a desperate dash around the house screaming “WHERE THE HELL ARE MY CLEAN KNICKERS?!”  - joke... or maybe not a joke.

Anyway, sometimes I just have to spruce myself up a bit, like when I’m due a visit from someone and I want to look like I’m well rested and breezing through this whole motherhood adventure rather than my new look that resembles the cast of Jurassic Park after the raptors have started munching their pals... - Joke... or maybe not a joke.

To crack this routine I’ve had to have a serious product purge, experimental items do not feature, I need brands I know, love and trust to see me through these early baby days. These are brands I’ve used for years and they’ve never let me down, this is my moment of need after all and I need to know that these old friends have got my back without much effort on my part.

I picked up a sample of this IT Cosmetics CC Cream when I was in the US last year and loved it, it has medium coverage but looks way more natural than a traditional foundation. It is really easy (which means QUICK) to blend in, it colour corrects and helps conceal dark circles which means I can cut out using a separate product for my under eyes thus saving precious minutes.
Add in that it claims to moisturise and reduce the appearance of wrinkles all with a nice little factor 50 SPF, which means I can cut out using a moisturiser and a sun lotion too, it’s all about those valuable minutes people!

Next on the list is my favourite lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury, I love a bit of Charlotte Tilbury because the finishes of her products are so natural and last for ages. I am in love with this shade called Stoned Rose Which is a lovely coral pink colour but the most natural coral lipstick I’ve ever used. I also double up this lipstick as a cream blusher which continues to speed up my get-ready time and also has the handy side effect of pulling my look together as everything matches. I pop a little on my finger tips and dab into the apples of my cheeks, thank you Charlotte, you make to look alive!

Ah Urban Decay, you may remember a post I published a while back about how Urban Decay is the brand that started it all - my love of makeup that is. A good ten years later I’m still a loyal fan and I always have something from Urban Decay in my routine and at the moment I’m making use of my trusty old Naked Palettes, the shades blend with no real effort on your part, they last all day and each palette has a range of shimmers and mattes that can change your look dramatically all in one handy palette. I’m currently using my Naked 3 palette and especially liking the lighter shimmer shades to brighten up my eye area, let’s pretend I’m sleeping well shall we?

Finally I finish off my look with a quick cat eye from whatever liquid liner I'm using at the minute and a coat of mascara and I'm out the door. No pictures of these items as I've still not found my holy grail product in either of these areas.

Let me know if any of these are your products of choice!

Bye for now,

Rosy xx
