British Summer Problems

Hello Everyone,

Today's post is a little something different, I thought we could discuss the problems we Brits face once summer comes around.

  1. Summer doesn't come. You know the drill, Christmas passes and our thoughts start turning to the warmer months that will lie ahead, spring will arrive soon followed swiftly by summer, we go on ASOS and buy all the kimonos and strappy dresses, we buy the sandals and the summer themed lipsticks (Vegas Volt anyone?) Paint our nails mint green or cornflower blue and we wait... No - RAIN.
  2. Summer plays a trick on you, one day you're happily accepting that the UK sucks hairy bum because we will never see a ray, you're thinking of moving to Spain then BOOM heatwave, overnight it goes from North Pole to St Lucia, the kimono isn't ready, you aren't ready! You've only had 6 months to prepare for this day, you go out, you burn... You're back on the UK sucks hairy bum and complaining that the heat is too much and when will Autumn come?
  3. People lose their minds over a cloud moving. You see it, the sun shines through the window, there's still no leaves on the trees but it must mean summer right? Suddenly everyone is outside in crop tops and shorts... Catching hypothermia.
  4. When the sun finally does make a warm appearance, everyone seems to forget their SPF and for the next few weeks we are surrounded by the lobster crew, everyone burning themselves to crisp - forget the cancer my friends - this might go brown!
  5. Sun makes the news, it says something about the UK as a nation when every single summer the news starts to remind us that it is summer! National news warns you that for this rare couple of weeks coming you will be warm! We have to be reminded daily to drink water, not burn ourselves, stay out of direct sun... basically we need to be told how not to die by the news. Excellent.
Hope you could relate to this tongue in cheek post.

  1. Haha yes this is all true! I was caught out a month ago when I turned up to the rowing lakes with a winter coat and the sun decided to make an unexpected appearance - I was sun burned for the next week - yuck! Got to love the British weather... and the fact that as Brits we can't help but comment on it all the time!! xx

    1. Haha, I always overdress and almost pass out in a jumper while all the savvy girls are strutting it in playsuits.
